NS BMVicarioTACLOBAN CITY - In a special session on Wednesday (April 7, 2021), the Provincial Council of Northern Samar passed a resolution that would provide benefits and incentives for the continuing service of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) in the province.

This thrust towards nutrition is in line with the objectives of the First 1000 Days of Life Program, one of the flagship programs of the provincial government this year, the Northern Samar provincial information office (NSPIO) said in a statement on its Facebook page.

On March 24, the Provincial Nutrition Committee approved the resolution for endorsement to the provincial council.

The resolution recommended the payment PhP300 per month and additional incentive of up to PhP300 depending on the performance of BNS, from the provincial government.

This is on top of the honorarium they receive from the barangay and the local government unit, the NSPIO stated.

Moreover, the resolution also supports the grant of other benefits to BNS who perform their duties actively and regularly as certified by the Nutrition Action Officer, midwife, or the Punong Barangay of their respective areas.

These include loyalty incentives of up to PhP4,000 depending on the years of service, PhilHealth Insurance Coverage, Medical and Dental benefits, free legal assistance, and BNS Convention.#GSabalza
