PALO, Leyte - The Regional Technical Working Group (RTWG) for Nutrition in Eastern Visayas on Tuesday (March 23, 2021) held its first quarter meeting for 2021 in blended virtual and face-to-face as part of the new normal amid the ongoing health crisis.
RTWG members who attended the meeting at Ritz Tower de Leyte in Tacloban City were from the Department of Trade and Industry, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the National Development and Economic Authority, the Department of Health, the Eastern Visayas State University, and the Philippine National Police.
Meanwhile, virtual participants who joined via Google Meet are representatives from the Department of Science and Technology, Department and Agrarian Reform, Department of Public Works and Highways, the Visayas State University - BIDANI and Plan International.
Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo Jr., Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, presented the results of the Rapid Nutrition Assessment Survey (RNAS) conducted from November to December last year by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute and the pilot implementation of Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program in the region.
Southern Leyte was among the areas covered across the country for the RNAS, which seeks to provide snapshot of the food security situation and nutrition perceptions of respondents in select cities and provinces with different risk-level for Covid-19.
The meeting also highlighted the region's 2020 Nutrition Situation Report, the results on nutrition service disruption and adaptation in the health system in the local government units, the regional nutrition awarding ceremony, and the Interim Guidelines in the conduct of OPT Plus, Nutrition Screening, Growth Monitoring and Promotion Activities under the new normal and other related disasters as stipulated in Memorandum 010 issued on Dec. 15, 2020. #NASLabordo
