TACLOBAN CITY - For the first time, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) 8 will hold its annual Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (RNAC) in blended virtual and face-to-face as mass gatherings are restricted amid the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo Jr., Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, said most participants will join the ceremony virtually and only a selected number of individuals would be invited to the venue at The Oriental Hotel in Palo,Leyte on March 30, 2021.
"We have a big venue to ensure that physical distancing is strictly observed. We also have facemasks and shields to be distributed, while the food during the event will not be served in buffet style," he added.
The annual ceremony recognizes outstanding local government units (LGU) and provincial and local nutrition offices across the region in the effective implementation of various nutrition-related programs.
This year, the RNAC will also highlight the significant contribution of barangay nutrition scholars as frontline heroes battling the coronavirus pandemic.
In a meeting on March 23, the Regional Nutrition Committee assured that the activity will push through in strict compliance to existing health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Committee likewise approved the list of top performing LGUs, BNS, and other individuals that would be given special citations during the event.#GSabalza
