12 November 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region X successfully conducted a face-to-face Training on Nutriskwela Community Radio Broadcasting for the two Nutriskwela stations in Region 10. Radyo Kalambuan DXNE 94.3 FM in Tubod, Lanao del Norte, and Radyo Kalilang DXNN 104.9 FM in Kalilangan, Bukidnon were trained last 25-28 October 2022 at Media Center, Mindanao Civic Center, Tubod, Lanao del Norte and via Zoom.
There was a total of thirteen (13) attendees, including new radio station staff and selected members of community radio councils.
Due to changes in local leadership, retirement or reassignment, and other reasons, this training was held to orient the station management on community radio operations and nutrition to operate the stations effectively and to serve its objective of promoting nutrition. It will also ensure compliance with rules and regulations governing radio broadcasting.

7 November 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – Success! The One Region in Nutrition (ORIN) one of the information and education programs of the National Nutrition Council Region X aired eight episodes via its Facebook Page from 20 September to 14 October 2022.
This year’s ORIN episodes narrated nutrition in the First 1000 Days stages from pregnancy up to older stage of infancy and toddlerhood. It also talked about the NNC’s Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program for Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte Province; and the best practices on Infant and Young Child Feeding Program for identified local government.

By virtue of Republic Act No. 10661, signed on 29 May 2015, November is declared as National Children’s Month highlighting the theme, “Kalusugan, Kaisipan at Kapakanan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan”. It is a month-long celebration for children which strives to provide the accessibility of interventions supporting the mental health and general well-being of Filipino children.
This year’s celebration is being led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), and National Youth Commission (NYC) wherein activities have been lined up that will focus on children’s mental health.
Without a question, every child has their own rights regardless of their racial background, ethnicity, gender, or religion. All children have the right to a high quality of living, as well as the right to health, nutrition, education, family and play. They also have the right to be protected from abuse and violence.

The Philippines annually promotes awareness on the celebration of National Skin Diseases Detection and Prevention Week during the second week of November. Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo issued Proclamation No. 110 to strengthen and encourage proper skin and body care awareness.
In fact, the skin is the largest organ that covers the entire body. Among the functions of the skin is to serve as a protective shield against heat, light, injury, and infection. The skin also regulates body temperature, stores water and fat, prevents entry of bacteria, acts as a barrier between the organism and its environment, and helps to make vitamin D when exposed to the sunlight.

1 November 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The Municipal Nutrition Office of Don Carlos, Bukidnon facilitated a 3-day training on Disaster Preparedness on Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE) cum infant and Young Child Feeding at Tourism Hall, Lake Pinamaloy, Don Carlos Bukidnon on 10-12 October 2022 together with National Nutrition Council (NNC) X and Bukidnon Provincial Nutrition Office.
It was attended by Municipal Nutrition Cluster (MNCl) and Barangay Nutrition Cluster (BNCl) members. NNC X represented by Nutrition Officer III Sheena Marie G. Talle and Project Development Officer I Vazamija Therese A. Villasi; for the Province, District Nutrition Program Coordinator Rebecca R. Hibaya and Nutritionist-Dietitian I Rona Myrrh E. Talaman and from the Department of Health Nutritionist-Dietitian Deployment Project, ND II Liezel Joy D. Reyes.

8 November 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – Select Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) X members, stakeholders, and partners convened to begin the series of planning activities for the 2023-2028 Regional Plan of Action for Nutrition (RPAN) last 19-20 October 2022 at The VIP Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.
The two-day workshop was attended by 14 participants composed of various agencies including non-government organizations (NGOs) which was facilitated by Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae Fernandez and NNC X technical staff - Nutrition Officer III Sheena Marie Talle, Development Management Officers II Arlie Joy Damiles, Gwyn Balaba, and Lizelle Bete, and Project Development Officer I Vazamija Therese Villasi.
The development of the 2023-2028 RPAN aims to scale-up nutrition interventions by aligning various stakeholders and partners’ programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) adopting the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023-2028 identified priority strategies. PPAN 2023-2028 is the country’s framework in addressing malnutrition problem.
