With great effort and commitment, Valencia City Nutrition Action Officer (CNAO) Hazel P. Dondonayos earnestly worked for the improvement of the city's nutrition situation which resulted to positive outcomes. Her uncontested efforts awarded her the 2021 Regional Outstanding City Nutrition Action Officer title.
Since the Valencia City LGU received the Nutrition Honor Award in 2016, CNAO Dondonayos is instrumental in sustaining the gains of the city until present, through the supportive leadership of the LGU, and the contributions of the City Nutrition Committee and her staff. As the focal person for nutrition in the Province of Misamis Occidental, it was no easy feat to plan and coordinate actions to lift the Province from one of the top nutritionally-depressed provinces in 2015 to become one of the top performers on nutrition in the country today.
Ms. Marichu “Ichu” G. Tijing’s remarkable stint as Provincial Nutrition Action Officer of Misamis Occidental earned her the first ever title of National Outstanding PNAO in 2021. Despite the hardships and challenges she encountered, PNAO Tijing’s nine years of service is continuously fueled by her purpose and passion to help people, and to further aid the local nutrition offices under the Province’s guidance.
Together with the support of their local chief executive, Provincial Nutrition Committee members, and her able Provincial Nutrition Action Office staff, PNAO Tijing was able to execute her functions well, and even beyond what is expected from a PNAO. Below are her notable best practices:

5 December 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council (NNC) X visited the City of Oroquieta to conduct an advocacy meeting with the City Nutrition Committee (CNC) last 16 November 2022 at City Library, Town Center, Oroquieta City. A total of 20 CNC members attended the meeting led by Oroquieta City Mayor Lemuel Meyrick M. Acosta and Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Chair on Health & CNC Vice Chair Dr. Arthur Q. Enanoria.
City Nutrition Program Coordinator (CNPC) Lady Cindy E. Japus presented the current nutrition situation of the city and the 2022 initial accomplishments. She highlighted that the prevalence rate of underweight, stunting, and wasting among preschool children increased in the past three (3) years.

The City Nutrition Committee (CNC) together with City Nutrition Action Officer Nenita F. Rabe, RND and with the full support of the City Health Office is truly committed in sustaining the delivery of nutrition services through effective and efficient nutrition program management. 15 November 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The 9th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Valencia City declared its support to the nutrition programs of the city during the Nutrition Advocacy Meeting held last 3 November 2022 at the SP Conference Room.
The Valencia City Nutrition and Human Physical Development Division (CNHPDD) led by City Nutrition Action Officer Hazel P. Dondonayos, with the National Nutrition Council X headed by Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez, met with Valencia City's legislators to lobby the nutrition program.

The exceptional performance of Misamis Occidental Province in the recent years bagged them several awards for nutrition. Yet, little did everyone know that the Province started from scratch in 2013 before it transformed into one of the top performing Provinces in the country.
Since Misamis Occidental was included as one of the nutritionally depressed provinces, this became their springboard and wake up call to prioritize nutrition. A trailblazing improvement paved the way for the province in 2015 and the succeeding years, wherein the prevalence rate of malnourished children continued to decline up to present.
