4 March 2023, Cagayan de Oro City – The local government of Mambajao, Camiguin through the members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee members convened last 22 February 2023 for an advocacy meeting facilitated by National Nutrition Council (NNC) X. The meeting, held at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, housed a total of 11 MNC members headed by Councilor/Chair on the Committee on Health and Officer-in-Charge, Ms. Aileen Grado.

Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez of NNC X first introduced the agency, followed by presenting the guide to navigating the nutrition program while reiterating the roles and responsibilities of the MNC, and its current functionality status.

Upon assessing the presentation, the MNC members noticed deficiencies in some areas, which prompted Councilor/OIC Grado to commit to oversee the reactivation of MNC and comply with the issues identified. Councilor/OIC Grado added that health and nutrition are among the 10-point agenda of Municipal Mayor Yñigo Jesus D. Romualdo.

NNC X further recommended to enhance and facilitate the approval of the Municipal Nutrition Action Plan with corresponding budgetary requirements, supported by local issuance, and to strengthen the MNC membership by including the Municipal Local Government Operations Officer and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer.
