Infographics TK DSP commenced in LDN23 February 2023, Cagayan de Oro City- The Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK DSP) Phases III and IV both commenced last 13 February 2023 in Lanao del Norte Province. A total of seventeen (17) municipalities started their weekly distribution of Dry Feeding Commodities to the 6-23 months old children beneficiaries. 

Phase III covers seven (7) municipalities with a total of 420 beneficiaries, namely Matungao, Linamon, Kauswagan, Kolambugan, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Nunungan and Tagoloan. Meanwhile, ten (10) municipalities with a total of 1,150 beneficiaries are under Phase IV Tutok Kainan program, specifically the areas of Bacolod, Balo-i, Baroy, Kapatagan, Lala, Magsaysay, Maigo, Salvador, Sapad and Tubod.

Last 13 February 2023, simultaneous launching of Tutok Kainan Program as well as food demonstration were facilitated by the program areas together with the Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Norte and the Nutritionist-Dietitians Deployment Project (NDDP) of the Department of Health (DOH).

Local Chief Executives and Punong Barangays were also present during the commencement of the Tutok Kainan Program demonstrating their support and actions to address the malnutrition situation in their locality.

During the launching, the complementary feeding commodities given for the 6-23 months old children beneficiaries are the Ready-to-Eat (RTE) food products of the Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI), particularly the Rice Mongo Blend and Rice Mongo Sesame Blend to be distributed to the beneficiaries for the 1st month of implementation. A total of 1,570 children aged 6-23 months old for both phases are currently being provided with the two commodities.

For Phase III, a combination of dry and wet feeding will be implemented to the seven municipalities of Lanao del Norte. While for Phase IV, only dry feeding scheme will be implemented. Both phases will be implemented for 180 days or 6 months, seven days a week from Monday-Sunday.

The Barangay Nutrition Scholars will work closely with the nutrition staff from the Rural Health Unit to provide close monitoring, visitations, and monthly weighing services to the 6-23 months old children beneficiaries throughout the feeding activity.

Further, NNC X through DMO II Bete will continue to provide assistance, guidance and monitor the program’s progress and updates throughout the feeding program implementation.
