RO9 Orientation

 

A total of 46 participants, consisting of Provincial/City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers and District/City/Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators of the component LGUs in Region 9, attended the Orientation on the Nutrition Service Continuity Online Survey conducted by the National Nutrition Council Region IX via Google Meet on 07 January 2021 at 9AM.

In her welcome remarks, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Nimfa D. Ekong greeted the participants and expressed her gratitude for their participation. She emphasized in her message the importance of the continuity in the delivery of nutrition services amidst the persisting COVID-19 pandemic most especially to the vulnerable groups to counteract the negative impact of the problem. She also mentioned that this survey is critical in planning and in crafting innovative interventions to prevent further deterioration of nutritional status, thus, responses from the component LGUs are deemed necessary to provide an overall picture of the nutrition situation of the region.

Nutrition Officer I Zhalimar A. Jakaria-Patulada did the acknowledgement of the participants. She recognized the attendees from the Province of Zamboanga del Sur together with the Municipalities of Dumingag, Lapuyan, Sominot, Vincenzo Sagun, Molave, Aurora, Mabuhay, Labangan, Margosatubig, Midsalip, and Bayog; from the Province of Zamboanga del Norte along with the Municipalities of Salug, Mutia, Tampilisan, Polanco, Godod, Siayan, Sindangan, Labason, Katipunan, Jose Dalman, and Manukan; from the Province of Zamboanga Sibugay accompanied with the Municipalities of Imelda, Olutangga, Payao, Buug, Ipil, Tungawan, Talusan, RT Lim, and Titay; and from the Cities of Dapitan, Isabela, Zamboanga, and Pagadian.

Afterwards, Nutrition Officer III Elton N. Pelegrino proceeded with the presentation of the overview and components of the survey. He presented the objective of the survey which is to understand the impact of COVID-19 on the provision and utilization of routine nutrition services through the health system. The target participants are the region’s City and Municipal Nutrition Action Officers and they need to answer questions about BNS capacity, Nutrition Services Offered before and during COVID, Nutrition Services Adaptation, Nutrition Information, Education, and Communication, and Food Packs. He also showed the survey questionnaire for the participants to have an idea on what to expect upon entering the online survey tool and what are the information they need to provide.

All R9 LGUs are enjoined to access the survey at this link: http://bit.ly/38qGxlp to provide their vital response. The survey shall run until 15 January 2021 for LGUs to answer the survey and accomplish it with only one (1) response per LGU, preferably, NAOs as respondent.
