Caraga has started mobilizing community support for IYCF in several barangays throughout the region. In Butuan City, the mobilization was conducted at Barangay Antongalon on March 6-7, 2014. Participants included 25 barangay personnel led by Barangay Captain Crisanto Carin. The volunteers included pregnant and lactating mothers from different puroks in the area. OIC City Nutrition Action Officer Ms. Nenita C. Rafanan, together with District Nutrition Program Coordinators facilitated the orientation and organization of the support group. The group called themselves the Breastfeeding Ambassadors and elected their officers.
In San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, the model barangay is Barangay Alegria which is led by Barangay Captain Solomon T. Rufila. Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Ms. Laniebelle T. Angchangco and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Ms. Mamerlyn Bugaoan oriented the participants on the roles and responsibilities of the municipal and barangay IYCF Team. The mobilization happened on March 24-25, 2014. The Alegria group called themselves the IYCF Prime Movers. The volunteers were composed of representatives from senior citizens, religious sector, TODA, purok leaders and the pregnant and lactating mothers. Aside from volunteers from Barangay Alegria, there were volunteers from other barangays who observed the activity to ensure they will be able to replicate the mobilization in their own area.

April 1, 2014-The mobilization on Infant and Young Child Feeding counseling and creation of community support groups were conducted to ensure and accelerate the promotion, protection and support of good IYCF in the barangay level. This is also done to strengthen the advocacy on the impact of good feeding practices have on the nutritional status, growth, development, health, and survival of infants and young children.
Each city and province in Caraga has started to mobilize their community IYCF support groups. The IYCF counseling community mobilization includes training on Infant and Young Child Feeding counselling course, Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos and the use of Counseling cards. After the training the participants will be able to counsel pregnant women and mothers with 0-2 years old children and conduct of nutrition education classes in their barangay. Currently, Butuan City, Bayugan City and Agusan del Sur already started their community mobilization while Surigao City and Dinagat Islands province will conduct their first batches this week.

February 12, 2014-The National Nutrition Council aims for continual improvement of services to its clients and stakeholders including timely and quality nutrition and nutrition-related information through media. To ensure the proper maintenance and sustainability of the NNC website and other social network accounts such as Facebook and Twitter, the NNC Web Team together with the Regional Publishers are currently having the General Assembly and Capacity Building workshop until February 14, 2014, at Hotel 878, Libis, Quezon City. The 3-day workshop aims to enhance skills and knowledge of the participants on NNC website management.
On the first day of the workshop, key resource persons shared their knowledge and expertise by providing updates on the Integrated Government Philippines Project (iGovPhil) for all government websites and web-based communication and information sharing; web article writing, website publishing, posting and managing, monitoring and branding social network sites.
The second day of the workshop is devoted to the formulation of 2014-2016 Strategic Plan for NNC Web Operations. The participants will undergo brief group and plenary exercises to define the vision, mission and core values of the NNC Web Team and to identify the directions, priorities and milestones of the 3-year strategic plan. A work and financial plan for 2014 will also be developed during the 2nd day. A fun filled half-day team-building activity on the last day to promote productivity and harmonious working relationship among the Web Team members who are mainly based in the central office and the Regional Publishers will cap the 3-day event.

February 14, 2014, National Nutrition Council-Caraga held a special regional nutrition awarding ceremony to recognize the 2012 Outstanding municipality, city and province in the region at Goat 2Geder Hotel and Restaurant, Butuan City. The event gave an opportunity to thank the Local Chief Executives, Provincial, City and Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (P/C/MNAOs) , District and City Nutrition Program Coordinators (D/CNPCs), and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) who have supported the local nutrition program through the years.
The province of Agusan del Sur is the Provincial Nutrition Green Banner awardee. SB on Health Dr. Susan Gerona accepted the award on behalf of Governor Adolph Edward G. Plaza. Dr . Gerona stressed the support of the local government to the nutrition program specifically on the budget allotted to nutrition. She also emphasized the innovations that Agusan del Sur have implemented on the nutrition program such as establishment of community garden for families with malnourished children and pooling of lecturers who will discuss and advocate about the local nutrition programs.
Socorro, Surigao del Norte is the 2012 outstanding municipality in the region. Surigao del Norte Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Mr. Antonio L. Tiu accepted the plaque in behalf of Mayor Denia T. Florano. Mr. Tiu recalled the first years when they first advocated about the nutrition program and nobody seemed to be concerned, up to the last few years when Socorro came out as the leading municipality in the nutrition program.
Bislig City is the 2012 City Green Banner Awardee. Bislig City also received the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) award during the National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony in Manila last October 2013. Councilor Pedrito R. Sulapas accepted the plaque and green banner for Mayor Librado Navarro. Councilor Sulapas proudly narrated the innovations that the city has implemented such as the summer Nutri Skwela for children 5-10 years old and the Nutri-Give.
The other awards were given to the Municipal Green Banner awardees such as Las Nieves (Agusan del Norte), San Francisco (Agusan del Sur), Socorro (Surigao del Norte and Lanuza (Surigao del Sur).
The Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar is Ms. Hilda B. Guiba from Tubay, Agusan del Norte. Ms. Guiba received a plaque and cash award of P20,000. The provincial and city outstanding barangay nutrition scholars also received certificates of recognition and cash awards. They were Mr. Lester E. Maturan (Socorro, Surigao del Norte), Ms. Salvacion Montenegro (Lanuza, Surigao del Sur), Ms. Oshi Cuaresma (San Francisco, Agusan del Sur), Ms. Alma Deiparine (Butuan City), Ms. Arsenia Abala (Bayugan City), Ms.Rufina Dizon (Surigao City), Ms. Liza Taglucop (Cabadbaran City) and Ms. Enrieta Abao (Tandag City).
Aside from the regional winners, National Nutrition Council-Caraga also gave plaques and certificates of recognition to the local nutrition workers of the provinces and cities who have made it possible for the downward trend of malnutrition in Caraga over the past five years.
