The National Nutrition council is the lead agency for implementing the National Dietary Supplementation Program also known as Tutok Kainan. 

The Province of Sulu is one of the beneficiaries of the TKDSP Phase 3, with 19 Barangays in 12 municipalities. Among these municipalities is the municipality of Jolo with two target Barangays (Bus-Bus and Tulay). On 23 February, 2023 the BLGU of Barangaya Tulay has launched the Tutuk Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program  (TK-DSP) spearheaded by most active Chairwoman Hja. Francisca J. Hairal. With the all-out support of the Barangay Health Workers of the Barangay Health Station headed by Ms. Fatima Marida Kadil-Bara, the launching of the TKDSP was a success and attended by the beneficiaries along with their mothers. Present at the program were the National Nutrition Council staff deployed in Sulu, DMO II (PNFP) Sheehan A. Kadil, and also the Jolo Nutrition Officer, Ms. Sherwina Imdani of the Integrated Public Health Office  (IPHO) of Sulu.


The Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council facilitated the Multisectoral Committee Meeting last 06 February 2023. To orient the participants on the upcoming 2nd Bangsamoro International Development Partners Forum (BIDPF), identify the areas that each sector would like international partners to consider in their programming in light of the emerging Bangsamoro Development Investment Program (BIDP) and Result Matrices (RM) and agree on preparations for the 2nd BIDPF.

Child Rights Analysis Concerning the Situation of Children in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao BARMM

Workshop happen in Cotabato City 02 February 2023. The workshop aims to inform the work and planning of BARMM government ministries, UNICEF, and wider partners through a comprehensive overview of the degree to which core child rights are realized in BARMM, across the six child rights fields: 1. Survives and thrives; 2. Learns and acquires; 3. Safe and equitable access to water, sanitation and hygiene services; 4. Protection from violence; 5. An equitable chance in life; and lastly, 6. Civil and participation rights.


UNICEF Nutrition Team with Nutrition Specialists Grace Funnell, Mueni Mutunga, Dr. Rene Galera and Paluku Bahwere had a courtesy visit at the Ministry of Health on 03 February 2023, together with MOH- Nutrition Division and NNC- BARMM.

The visit aims to understand operational and programmatic challenges and identify good practices in the implementation of PIMAM at the community level. Further, the team also discussed the upcoming operations research that will help  improve the coverage of the management of severe acute malnutrition through operations research questions, methods, and process.


Cotabato City – The World Food Programme hosts and facilitates the Theory of Change Workshop to set the strategic direction of the next Country Strategic Plan 2024-2028 in alignment with BARMM regional Government priorities as well as the National government agenda for Food Security, Nutrition and Resilience Building to withstand and recover from climate change, conflicts, disaster, and other shocks. The output of the consultation workshop will guide the World Food Programme in the Philippines.

Training on Basic Course for Barangay Nutrition Scholars of Buldon Maguindanao

The Municipal Nutrition Committee of Buldon, Maguindanao, Chaired by Hon. Mayor Pahmia A. Manalao with the assistance of MNAO Jianema K. Hadji Taib organized a 5-day Training on Basic Course for Barangay Nutrition Scholars held on 23-27 January 2023. To   further support nutrition improvement in their municipality through capacity building of nutrition workers.

This training equipped the BNSs with the knowledge, attitude and skills needed in delivering basic nutrition related services. It also provides a better understanding on the relevance of the nutrition program management in the performance of their roles and functions.
