04072022 World Health Day

The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA is one with the world in celebrating World Health Day today, 7 April 2022, with the theme “Our Planet, Our Health”.

World Health Day is celebrated annually every 7th of April since 1950s which aims to create awareness on a specific theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization (WHO).

For this year’s celebration, WHO and its partners calls for action on the opportunity for a green and healthy recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. WHO firmly believes that the health of the individuals and the planet should be at the center of actions and a movement should be fostered to create societies focused on well-being.

According to WHO, “Air pollution, contaminated water, inadequate sanitation including solid waste management, risks related to certain hazardous chemicals, and negative impacts of climate change are the most pressing environmental public health threats in the Region. These threats to public health are compounded by weak governance practices and potential inequities in health as well as by limited leadership, expertise, and resources in the health sector”.

As we are all facing a climate crisis related to health driving diseases, let us all do our part to ensure a #HealthierTomorrow for our planet and our health.
