There were 600 pregnant and lactating women (PLW) who were given Nutribuns during the first month of the 90-day feedings for the “ECCD F1K Dietary Supplementation Program” (DSP) which kicked off recently in Southville 8b, Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, Montalban, Rizal.

The program aims to prevent stunting among 0-23 months old children by improving the quality and quantity of nutrient intake of pregnant and lactating women, especially those who are nutritionally at-risk. Complementary feeding will also be provided to the stunted and wasted 6-23 months children to rehabilitate and improve their nutritional status.

dwmm article RNC responseMarch 31 – April 1, 2022.  With the recent emergence of progressive levels of magmatic unrest activity in Taal volcano, a total of 95 children under-five (CUF) and 19 pregnant and lactating women (PLW) were visited, interviewed and provided nutrition services in their evacuation centers (ECs) in Agoncillo and Laurel Batangas – as an essential  nutrition response of the  Regional Nutrition Cluster (RNC) Calabarzon.

The response of the RNC (composed of NNC and DOH-CHD IV-A) generally aims to prevent the worsening of the nutrition status of the vulnerable groups in the region. The  CUFs and PLWs served were among the displaced majority of the population nearby the declared danger zones in  affected areas.

The City Nutrition Committee (CNC) of Biñan   is just one step away in achieving the next   Nutrition Honor Award (NHA) after it has recently harvested another nutrition award:  the “2nd Year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Maintenance Award.”  The NHA is the highest distinction given by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) to an LGU, in recognition of its outstanding planning, management and implementation of local nutrition programs.

Earlier in 2019, the city was conferred the “1st Year CROWN Maintenance Award.” It also garnered the CROWN Award in the 2018 National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (NNAC) after being a “Green Banner Awardee in CaLaBaRZon” for three consecutive years. The Green Banner Award is given to the top performing LGUs in the region.

A total of 212 “more self-assured and more capacitated” pregnant teens from different barangays of the Municipality of Rodriguez-Montalban, Rizal attended the “Teenage Pregnancy Symposium” at the Municipal Gymnasium  during the  celebration of the 2022 National Women's Month, March 9 to 14.

The purposeful  symposium with the theme ““WE Make CHANGE Work for Women: Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran,”  clearly promoted the personal well-being  and enhanced the community engagement of the  pregnant teen participants. It made them realize that even with  their  early experience of pregnancy, they can get their life back with their new learnings, skills and involvement.
