SAN FERNANDO CITY, July 31 (Anne Hazel Flores-PIA 1) – The National Nutrition Council (NNC-1) in Ilocos, in partnership with the League of Nutrition Action Officers of Region 1 (RLNAO) engaged their stakeholders through a Nutrition Month Webinar cum Regional Conference-Workshop, here.
“This annual event is aimed to update our nutrition action officers (NAOs) with the knowledge and skills to sustain efficient and effective management of local nutrition programs amidst this ongoing pandemic,” said NNC-1 Officer-in-Charge and Nutrition Program Coordinator Kendall Pilgrim Gatan.
Further, Gatan said that the activity will enhance the NAOs capacities and competencies to improve the delivery of nutrition services and further improve the implementation of programs in the communities.

23 July 2021-- With a whopping count of more than 300 viewers on both Zoom and FB Live, the District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators Association of the Philippines in Region 1 Chapter (D/CNPCAP-1) with the National Nutrition Council Region 1 (NNC-RO1) successfully convened its first ever online forum anchored in of this year’s Nutrition Month celebration.
The said forum covered its targeted participants mostly the Local Nutrition Program Coordinators (LNPCs), Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) and other partner advocates on nutrition within and beyond Region 1.

As the National Nutrition Council Region 1 opened the Nutri-Jingle Video Contest Season 4 all over Region 1, 4 families showcased their talents as they compete for the first ever family category.
Each family gracefully performed their unique songs and dance steps featuring the theme of this year’s Nutrition Month Celebration: “Malnutrisyon patuloy na labanan, First 1000 Days Tutukan”.
The following are the families with their respective group names who took part in the competition:
- Robosa Family - San Carlos City, Pangasinan
- Buridibud Group - San Quintin, Pangasinan
- Nutriyum Squad - San Gabriel, La Union
- Esteban Family - Sarrat, Ilocos Norte
The board of judges will determine scores on originality, choreography, and relevance to the theme to comprise the 55% while the remaining 45% from the social media aspect will be from the netizens.

San Fernando City- As part of the monthlong regional celebration of Nutrition Month (NM), the League of Nutrition Action Officers of Region 1 in close collaboration with the National Nutrition Council Regional Office 1 once again held its NM Webinar cum Regional Conference-Workshop on July 21-22, 2021 via Zoom anchored with this year’s NM theme: “Malnutrisyon patuloy na labanan, First 1000 Days tutukan.”. The said conference was attended by 346 participants mostly from the Local Government Units in Region I specifically the local nutrition action officers, barangay nutrition scholars and members of the local nutrition committees.
This annual event of the league aims to update and equip its members and other members of the Local Nutrition Committees, the Barangay Nutrition Scholars and other nutrition workers with the knowledge and skills to sustain efficient and effective management of local nutrition programs amidst this pandemic.

City of San Fernando, La Union-- A total of 23 secondary schools all over Region 1 actively joined and represented their beloved institutions in the Nutri-Jingle Video Contest Season 4 organized by the National Nutrition Council-Region I while strictly observing minimum public health standards by the government as health precautions for COVID-19.
The said contest is now on its year 4 being done every nutrition month which encourages secondary schools and families from Region 1 to actively participate and engage in the annual Nutrition Month Celebration.

July 23, 2021 - The Municipal Nutrition Action Office of Bacnotan, La Union successfully spearheaded the “Laking 1000 Online Nutrition Forum” via Zoom attended by about 180 members of their Barangay Nutrition Committees and other nutrition stakeholders of the municipality.
Hon. Divina C. Fontanilla, Bacnotan’s Vice-Mayor and MNC Vice chairperson led the said forum together with the following Municipal Nutrition Committee members who are present: Dr. Andy William O. Mendoza, (MHO), Dr. Divina Gracia Apigo (MAO), , Head Teacher Delia Matias, DEPED Bacnotan Nutrition Focal Person, Ms. Lorena A. Bravo (Midwife II), Ms. Jade Aleli Berganio (Sanitary Inspector 1), Ms. Brenda Villuan (Midwife III), Mr. Mathew Almojuela (Holcim CSR), Ms. Cherry Mae Bucaoto (DCW 1), MSWDO, Mr. John Philip Gabriel (MNAO) and 3 representatives from the Office of the Mayor namely Ms. Alene Jean Dacanay, Mr. Ramil Almoite, Mr. Franz Anthony Gutierrez and Mr. Rufino Lito Fontanilla (ABC President).
