Vigan 2.0Vigan City, Ilocos Sur - LOOK: The City Government of Vigan continuously provide grounds for better delivery of services to the Bigueños as the City Heath Office through City Nutrition Committe led by Mayor Juan Carlo Medina steered Training on the Management of Dietary Supplementation Program at Fil-Spanish Friendship Park, Mira Hills, Vigan City wherein Barangay Nutrition Scholars from 39 Barangays and Nutrition personnel from CHO attended the event.
 
City Nutrition Action Officer Jeno Josef Figuracion discussed the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program part of the PPAN 2017-2022 which aims to prevent stunting by providing nutritious food packs or hot meals to nutritionally-at-risk pregnant women and 6-23 months preschool children and Dietary Supplementation for School Children and School Based Feeding Program. 

Vigan 1Vigan City, Ilocos Sur - Over thirty-six teenage mothers, undernourished pregnants and borderline normal pregnant women recieved tray of eggs under the City Government of Vigan's Itlog para kay Nanay at Sanggol na Malusog which is a 90-day egg a day ration to ensure the well-being of each pregnant Bigueña.
 
SPM Janina Medina-Fariñas, City Nutrition Officer Jeno Josef Figuracion, CNPC Designate Myelene Amano and BNS Federated President Sharon Tablada handed the said tray of eggs and Nanay Kit to the beneficiaries.
 
"Being pregnant at the early age is not the end of your life instead it is brand new chapter the you'll embrace parenthood and knowing that every child is a blessing." SPM Janina Medina-Fariñas said.
 

The 2021 Nutrition Month Virtual Awarding Ceremony was held on September 1 2021 via Zoom and Facebook Livepng1 September 2021 – The National Nutrition Council Region 1 (NNC1) successfully held its first ever Nutrition Month (NM) Virtual Awarding Ceremony 2021 via zoom and facebook live to recognize offices, groups and individuals who participated in the extended monthlong celebration in Region I. 

The said awarding ceremony was participated by all Nutrition Month Contest participants in Nutri-Jingle Video Contest Season 4 with 4 families in Family Category and 23 schools for Student Category and 13 participants in Nutrition Month Digital Poster Making Contest (Breastfeeding Month Edition) including the members of the board of judges and Regional Line Agencies in Region 1.

The Municipal Nutrition Office successfully spearheaded the refresher training for barangay based health and nutrition workers on October 20 22 2021 held at Royal Mall with the theme Husay at Kalinga Lalo NgayongBayambang, Pangasinan - The Municipal Nutrition Office successfully spearheaded the refresher training for barangay-based health and nutrition workers on October 20-22, 2021 held at Royal Mall with the theme “Husay at Kalinga, Lalo Ngayong Pandemya”.

The training was organized by the Municipal Nutrition Office headed by MNAO Venus Bueno together with the District Nutrition Program coordinators and was attended by a total of 139 barangay-based workers composed of Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Barangay Health workers.

MNAO Bueno on her opening remarks said that the goal of the training is to ensure smooth implementation of nutrition and health programs in all barangays despite the challenges experienced by the barangay-based workers.

LTN BF EpisodeAs part of the celebration for the National Breastfeeding Awareness Month, the League of Nutrition Action Officers of Region 1 in partnership with the National Nutrition Council Region 1 invited Ms. Jovita Leny Calaguas, Nutritionist-Dietitian IV of DOH-CHD 1 last August 27, 2021, for the 7th Episode of Let’s Talk NAO.

During this episode, Ms. Calaguas discussed the theme of this year’s celebration “Tulong-tulong sa pagpapasuso sa First 1,000 Days” wherein it encourages breastfeeding to improve the health of babies and even the mothers. It is also based on the RA 11148 otherwise known as the Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng magNanay Act.

Online Organization of the SUN Networks in Region I 127 October 2021--The National Nutrition Council Region 1 (NNC1) in close coordination with the Regional Nutrition Committee-1 (RNC1) successfully organized and convened the  Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Business, Civil Society and Academe Networks in Region 1 via zoom platform.

NNC1 pushed for the organization of the said networks to work collectively with RNC1 to further accelerate the realization of the Regional Plan of Action for Nutrition (RPAN) and  complying to RNC Resolution No. 4, s. 2021 entitled: “Adopting the Scaling-Up Nutrition (SUN) 3.0 Strategy in Region 1 for the Organization of SUN Movement Networks”.

Dr. Mar Wynn D. Bello, Assistant Regional Director of DOH-CHD1 on behalf of RNC1 Chairperson, Dir. Valeriano Jesus V. Lopez graced the event where he acknowledged that government efforts alone cannot be fully sufficient for the overall improvement of the nutrition situation in the region without the active participation of the private sectors and other stakeholders, thus he urged everyone to work collectively and collaboratively towards improved health and nutrition.
