2022 MELLPI Pro Orientation SMC

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION- The National Nutrition Council Region 1 successfully conducted the orientation for the 2022 Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro attended by one-hundred eighty-one (181) members coming from the local and regional nutrition evaluation team (RNET) and partners from the Scaling Up Nutrition Networks in Region 1 through a live zoom platform last 31 May 2022.

The conduct of MELLPI has already been an annual activity being done to monitor and evaluate the progress and initiatives in the local nutrition programs of LGUs until it was revised and enhanced to MELLPI Pro to comply with the developing changes in nutrition policies and program management anchored to the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition.

 Then again, the said orientation aims to refresh and prepare all the participants on the conduct of the 2022 nutrition evaluation while expecting for the finalization of all tools.

During the opening message, OIC-Nutrition Program Coordinator Kendall Pilgrim Gatan of NNC1 encouraged all LGUs and Nutrition Focal Points to participate in the conduct of 2022 MELLPI Pro not only for recognition and awards purposes but rather to determine the strengths, challenges and gaps in the implementation of their nutrition programs incompliance to such nutrition standards

Afterwards, he also presented an initial overview of the MELLPI Pro as guide for everyone in preparing for the annual evaluation specifically for the 2021 performance year emphasizing that all local levels should be able to evaluate all LGUs for this year and through this orientation, everyone should be able to structure their tentative schedules for the conduct of the MELLPI Pro.

A breakout session for  was done on the navigation of tools for LGUs for the Provincial & highly urbanized Cities for all members of the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET), by Ms. Wylibeth Lumpias, NNC1- Nutrition Officer II; and Ms. Christie Ferino, PNAO-Ilocos Sur presented the the Municipal and Barangay tools for all Local Level Nutrition Evaluation team (P/C/M/B), respectively.

On the afternoon session, NOII Lumpias presented the tools for Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFP) for the provincial to municipal level followed by the tools for Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars (OBNS) by Ms. Bernalyn Calay, NNC1-NO II.

On later part of the program, OIC Gatan presented the tentative schedule for the conduct of the regional MELLPI Pro for approval and to be considered by all LGUs in structuring their re-entry plans which will be submitted per LGU on Friday, 3 June 2022.

Lastly, all materials including the finalized tools for the MELLPI Pro for all levels shall be disseminated through emails and active group chats within the week. /WNL
