July 26, 2021- The National Nutrition Council-Region I (NNC1) joined and graced the Municipality of Bayambang, Pangasinan Nutrition Month 2021 Celebration Culminating Program held at the Balon Bayambang Event Center attended by approximately 100 participants including some members of the municipal nutrition committee, barangay nutrition scholars and selected pregnant mothers.
Municipal Vice-Mayor, Hon. Raul Sabangan on behalf of Mayor Cezar Quiambao congratulated the Municipal Nutrition Action Office for the job well done not only in organizing activities during the nutrition month celebration but for the overall management of nutrition programs in the municipality.
He proudly emphasized the mayor’s immediate response to address the town’s high incidence of malnutrition through the creation of municipal nutrition action office in 2016 which sustained and proactive up to the present.
“If we want that our children will be intelligent, from the moment of conception, all pregnant women should have a good nutrition to ensure child’s health and good thinking” he added.
Mr. Kendall Gatan, Officer-In-Charge of NNC1 highlighted in his message the key messages of the 2021 nutrition month celebration. He also mentioned that the full support and accountability of the municipal nutrition committee led by the mayor is one of the key strategies to successfully resolved malnutrition problems in the locality.
He commended Mayor Quiambao on his full support, commitment and dedication in their fight against poverty and malnutrition in the locality and congratulated Bayambang’s Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, Ms. Venus Bueno for a job well done as per the presented accomplishment reports and for being the province’s bet for the search for the local nutrition action officer of the year in Region I.
“Bayambang was then an area of malnutrition concern but now, Bayambang can serve as role model where other LGUs in the region can benchmark,” he proudly added.
Presentation and awarding of winners for the conducted activities during the nutrition month was followed. Pregnant and lactating mothers and barangay nutrition scholars joined the activities and contest to include Search for Idol Nanay Year 2, Nutri-Online Photo contest, Poster-Making Contest, Search for A1-Child, Nutri-Vlog Cooking Contest and Healthy Food Treats.
Also, activities such as Buntis Forum and Mothers classes conducted at the barangay were presented ensuring that pregnant and lactating women will be provided with needed services during the First 1000 days of life.
Bayambang is one of the pilot areas of the ECCD-First 1000 Days project of the National Nutrition Council where the LGU of Bayambang embraced and scaled-up its implementation up to present.
The said activity was successfully conducted with strict compliance to the minimum public health standards. HJAB
