Department of Health issues DM 2020-0231 on the "Guidelines on the Standardized Regulation of Donations, Related to EO 51, s.1986 (The Philippine Milk Code), to Health Facilities and Workers, LGUs, NGOs, and Private Groups and Individuals in Support to the Response to Emergencies, Disasters, and Situations Where Health and Nutrition of Mothers, Infants, and Young Children are Affected"

Further to Nutrition Cluster Advisory No. 1, S. 2020 on “Guidelines on LGU Nutrition Actions Relative to COVID-19”, NNC formulated recommendations to all LGUs and their partners, providing detailed guidance in the distribution of healthy and nutritious food packs during this state of public health emergency.

Department of Health Department Memorandum 2020-0166: Interim Guidelines on the Preparation and Handling of Food in Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facilities for COVID-19 Patients In relation to DOH Department Memorandum No. 2020-0123, selected public spaces such as auditoriums, gymnasium, schools, vacant hotels, courts, open fields with tents, and the like may be converted to operate as temporary treatment and monitoring facilities to manage suspect, probable and confirmed COVID-19 cases with mild symptoms. As such, these facilities shall ensure provision of adequate nutrition through appropriate food quality, quantity, and safety. Hence, the DOH hereby issues these guidelines on food preparation and handling in temporary treatment and monitoring facilities.

Department of Health Deparment Memorandum 2020-0165: Interim Guidelines for RNDs in Hospitals on the Nutritional Dietary Management of COVID-19 Px and on the Provision of Healthy Diet to Hospital Workforce The Nutrition and Dietetics Service (NDS) in hospitals participates in the multidisciplinary management of patients through delivery of adequate and appropriate dietary requirements for patient’s better prognosis. To address the nutritional needs and to provide standard nutrition intervention for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, and to ensure the nutritional needs of the health workers, the Department of Health (DOH) hereby issues these guidelines for the use of the Registered Nutritionist-Dietitians (RNDs) of the hospitals.

Further to Proclamation No. 922 on “Declaring a State of Public Health Emergency throughout the Philippines”, NNC formulated recommendations to all local government units, non-government organizations, business companies and other civic-oriented organizations providing nutrition services to all COVID19-affected populations.

The NNC Technical Committee during its meeting on 20 August 2015, approved the First 1,000 Days of Life as the focus of Nutrition Month (NM) 2016. Given the slow rate of reduction in the prevalence of undernutrition over the years, and the increasing prevalence of overnutrition, focusing on the First 1,000 Days of life will help address this double burden of malnutrition.

Resolution Adopting the Guidelines on LGU Mobilization for Nutrition Improvement in Northern Mindanao

To ensure food security and to address food security issues in Region X, the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 10 formally convened and organized Regional Food Security Technical Working Group (TWG) during its organizational meeting presided by Engr. Roxana H. Hojas - Regional Technical Director for Operations of DA-10 on November 17, 2014 at Harbor Lights Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City. NNC X attended the said meeting as one of the members of the TWG. The Regional Food Security TWG was earlier created by virtue of RDC-X Resolution No. 32, series of 2014, with DA-X Regional Director as Chairperson.

The Regional Development Council (RDC) of Northern Mindanao during its 102nd Full Council Meeting held 19 August 2014 approved the adoption of the 2012 Revised Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF) and its Regional Visayan Version (Napulo ka Talamdan sa Nutrisyon Para sa Filipino) as part of NNC’s efforts for a wider and broader adoption of 2012 NGF through the promotion of its visayan translation in the region.

The Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) X during its Third Quarter Meeting held 17 September 2014 approved the membership of the Northern Mindanao’s Nutrition Action Officers Association of the Philippines (NAOPA, Inc.), District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators Association of the Philippines (DCNPCAP) and National Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) Federation, Inc. to the committee to provide these Associations with an opportunity for representation in decision-making and planning processes at the regional level.

Governor Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo signed on September 22, 2014 Executive Order No. 9, series of 2014 Reconstituting the Provincial Nutrition Committee of Lanao del Norte to make it more responsive to the current nutrition situation of the Province. The E.O. also stipulated that the reconstituted Provincial Nutrition Committee will also function as the Local Nutrition Cluster as a sub-structure of the local disaster coordinating council. The PNC was also tasked to coordinate with the other local clusters on handling disasters and emergencies.

The organization of the Media Advocates for Nutrition in GOvernance of Region 10 or MANGO DIEZ is an attempt to use the potential of quad media to mainstream nutrition in governance. MANGO DIEZ will be organized as a consortium of quad media partners coming from both government and private sectors that will help facilitate the dissemination of nutrition information and influence policy. This organization will provide the general public and decision-makers access to relevant nutrition information for them to make informed choices and decisions.
