The National Nutrition Council (NNC) held its annual general assembly of the website management team on 11-12 February 2019 at the NNC Boardroom which was attended by web team members and publishers from the central and regional offices.

“Networking is very important up to the grassroots level through the world wide web and social media to increase awareness on positive behavior change on nutrition” said Assistant Secretary of Health and NNC Executive Director Bernie Flores in her opening message to the participants.

The two-day activity was conducted to assess the 2018 website and social media pages of NNC in the central and regional offices and enhance the skills and knowledge of the website management team on monitoring of the webpage and status of the Facebook fan pages.

One of the outputs of the two-day activity is posting of new website article in respective webpages and status on official social media accounts. A presentation and hands-on exercise were also conducted on the proposed online client feedback system to digitize client feedback on NNC’s services. The participants were also taught various product features of Microsoft Office 365.

To update knowledge of the participants on the new iGov standards and strategies relative to the website, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Junior Client Service Executive, Gigi Garcia discussed updates from the National Government Portal project and other initiatives of DICT. On the other hand, NNC Nutrition Surveillance Division Chief Jigay Gawe discussed topics on data visualization to package nutrition information using infographics.

The general assembly ended with a team building activity with the theme “Digital Love”, where web team members and regional publishers participated in various activities that promoted teamwork and creation of a supportive environment. A closing program culminated the two-day activity where outputs and increasing reach to the public by the website management team were highlighted.

The NNC encourages the public to visit the website at, to like and follow the official Facebook fan page and regional Facebook pages, to learn relevant and timely nutrition updates and most recent happenings in the nutrition community. The NNC through these platforms, also welcomes recommendations and feedback to improve its website and social media accounts. (Daniel G. Salunga)
