Ms. Rose Lulu P. Pagaduan, Nutrition Officer III of NNC ROI led the Nutrition Prayer followed by an opening remarks from the School Division Superintendent Dr. Alma Ruby C. Torio of DepEd Division I. CNAO Leah L. Aquino welcomed everyone for participating the launching activity for 38th Nutrition Month Celebration and inspired everyone to consume more on vegetables by giving some nutrition trivia’s during her message.
Regional Director and RNC Chair Dir. Myrna C. Cabotaje mentioned during her message the importance of the Nutrition Month Celebration were to create awareness to improve the nutritional status of every Filipinos. She gave emphasize on 2 things: 1) Consumption of vegetables which is rich source of fiber and 2) “Ugaliin kumain ng gulay” helps to fight cancer and keeps the person alert and active. She also mentioned that vegetables are included into the 3 basic food groups known as Go, Grow, and Glow Foods as part of a balanced diet.
The highlights of the launching were the Turnover Ceremony of Seeds to the 35 Schools in Dagupan City which was sponsored by the DA ROI and the Ceremonial Vegetable Seed Planting led by Dir. Myrna C. Cabotaje. The turnover of seeds was received by the following Education Program Supervisors of DepEd Pangasinan Division I headed by Dr. Alma Ruby C. Torio Schools Division Superintendent, Mr. Disodado Cayabyab, Dr. William Macob, and Dr. Edilberto Abalos. Also with Dir. Cabotaje during the turnover ceremony were Ms. Rose Lulu P. Pagaduan NO III of NNC ROI, Dr. Rodolfo Jucutan of DepEd ROI, CNAO Leah L. Aquino, RONDA President Bernie R. Errasquin, Lucao Brgy. Kagawad Roger Paragas, and Ms. Marilou C. Llamas, Principal IV of Lucao Elementary School.
The ceremonial vegetable seed planting was well participated by the guests and participants who attended the program including Vice-Mayor Belen T. Fernandez and City Councilor Brian Lim who gave a simple message for everyone especially among the pupils of Lucao Elementary School on the healthy benefits of eating vegetables, before the program ended.
