IMG 8397“Ang kalusugan ay kayamanan”, wika nga ng popular na kasabihan na nagbubuod sa kahalagahan ng tamang kalusugan at ang tamang nutrisyon ang siyang pundasyon ng kalusugan. Ngunit ano nga ba ang bumubuo sa kalusugan ni Juan at Juana?

Ayon sa World Health Organization (WHO), ang kalusugan o health sa wikang ingles ay "state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."

Ngayong buwan ng Marso, sa buwan ng kababaihan, sama-sama nating pagnilay-nilayan ang mga dimensiyon at bumubuo sa ating kalusugan. Mula pa noong elementarya maging sa mga babasahin, ipinahiwatig na sa atin na ang mga dimensiyon ng ating kalusugan ay pisikal, mental o intelektuwal, emosyonal, sosyal, environmental at espiritwal. Sa lahat ng nabanggit, bigyang-pansin natin ang pisikal na siyang may napakalawak na sakop kung kaya’t ito ay itinuturing na pinakakritikal sa ating kalusugan.

The event was hosted by Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) while participating agencies were the Department of Health, Commission on Population, National Nutrition Council, Department of Labor and Employment, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Agriculture, Civil Service Commission, National Police Commission, Commission on Human Rights, Department of Foreign Affairs and Department of Science and Technology.

Ms. Mary Gene S. Contic, Ms. Andreissa Fae S. Ranchez and Mr. Nicholo Adrianne Lozano represented NNC RO I and offered nutrition services such as weight and height measurement, determining body mass index and desirable body weight, assessing nutritional status as well as nutrition counselling and promotion of 10 Kumainments.

CABA-Healthy EatingCABA, LA UNION – The National Nutrition Council (NNC) in cooperation with the Maglaya Medical-Legal Missions, Inc. (MMLM) enjoined the students of Jesus Cares Christian Academy together with their parents to practice healthy lifestyle and balanced diet during their 9th Foundation Day held last February 17, 2017. The event which was initiated by MMLM was attended by 145 individuals.

Ms. Mary Gene Contic, Nutrition Officer I of NNC and Ms. Tiffany Joy Peñera, Nutritionist-Dietitian of Caba District Hospital discussed the Pinggang Pinoy for Kids and 10 Kumainments respectively while the Department of Health provided promotional materials. The activity is also in line with this year’s Nutrition Month theme, “Healthy diet, gawing habit for life!”, and served as fresh start in the intensive advocacy campaign on healthy lifestyle and balanced diet.

MMLM, an active Non-Government Organization for health and nutrition in the province gave their full commitment to be an active partner in giving services to alleviate malnutrition in the Municipality of Caba being one of the municipalities in the region with high incidence of undernutrition particularly wasting and underweight. Palawan RONDA finalThe officers of the Regional Organization of Nutrition Development Advocates -1, Inc (RONDA-1) with the staff of the National Nutrition Council- Region I successfully conducted a three-day RONDA-1 Planning-Workshop and Teambuilding at the Skylight Hotel, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan from March 22 to 24, 2017.

The activity provided RONDA-1 members and NNC-ROI with skills and added knowledge that will increase their personal effectiveness and ultimately, the effectiveness of the entire organization to work together for an accurate, relevant and timely nutrition information dissemination in LUPang Ilocos.

NUTRISKWELAAs they say, “love is sweeter the second time around”, for Radio Kailian, “winning is sweeter for the second time”.

Besting 34 other radio stations from Batanes to Tawi-Tawi, Radio Kailian was adjudged for the second time as Best Radio Station conferred by the National Nutrition Council during the 7th Nutriskwela National Conference’ 2nd Nutriskwela Radio Awards, Hotel Supreme Convention Plaza, Baguio City February 7-9.

A stable nutrition advocacy reflected in all its program’s contents and format as the winning edge, the community radio station also received the following awards: Best Nutrition Segment, Best Nutrition Program, Best Radio Studio , and Best Nutrition Programming.

RLNAO Final PicBaguio City- The League of Nutrition Action Officers of Region I (RLNAOs) in partnership with the National Nutrition Council- Regional Office I successfully conducted its 24th RLNAOs Conference-Workshop on March 13-15, 2017 at Hotel Supreme, Magsaysay Ave., Baguio City. A total of 244 participants attended the event composed of Provincial/City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators, Barangay Nutrition Scholars and other nutrition stakeholders.

The conference was hosted by the Provincial Nutrition Office and NAOs Federation of Ilocos Norte with this year’s theme: "RLNAOs @ 24. Sustainable Healthy Lifestyle: A Challenge to Beat, Longer Life to #ACHIEVE!", anchored with the 2017 nutrition month theme and the roles of nutrition workers to contribute in the attainment of the Philippine Health Agenda Framework ACHIEVE.
