Nutri-Jingle Singing Contest

A Nutri-Jingle Singing Contest was held last July 21, 2011 at the Teatro Marikina, Shoe Avenue, Marikina City as part of the 37th Nutrition Month celebration. Contestants from various cities and municipality in Metro Manila showed their talents in composing jingle and singing to creatively express and interpret the Nutrition Month theme,  “Isulong ang breastfeeding-Tama, Sapat at Eksklusibo!”.

Ten cities and one municipality competed in the contest through their respective teams of eight members composed of Barangay Nutrition Scholars or members of the Breastfeeding Support Group (BFSG).

The criteria for judging were as follows:

Originality (lyrics)                   45%
Originality (melody)               35%
Choreography                       10%
Audience Impact                    5%
Costume                                 5%

The judges in the competition were: Ms. Cristine A. Basiao (Save the Children), Ms. Elen Ruth Abella (NSD-NNC) and Mr. Robert Nakamura (MMDA).

It was a tough competition but a very entertaining one. Second runner-up went to Mandaluyong City while Marikina City got the First Runner-Up. Besting all the teams was San Juan City who won the Grand Prize.  Winners received trophy and cash prize during the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held on August 18, 2011 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel.

All the Nutri-jingle entries will be recorded and compiled in a CD which will be used in the advocacy and promotion of breastfeeding in the region.
