Baguio City—The 2013 Annual Convention of the Philippine Society of Nutritionist- Dietitians (PSND), Inc. was held last April 4-5, 2013 at Hotel Veniz here in the City of Pines with more or less 300 delegates from all over the country. This is a dynamic organization of professionals in the field of nutrition and dietetics and other allied disciplines. It is also envisioned to be the vital partner in ensuring food and nutrition security.
Ms. Maria Veritas F. Luna, PSND, Inc. President said that this year’s theme “Nutrition by Design” is apt corollary to our professional roadmapping as Nutritionist-Dietitians for better delivery of nutrition and dietetic services in the country. “We wish to share in the convention, our vision for all our initiatives to bear the ‘Tatak Nutrition’- a brand of effectiveness, creativitiy, and propriety. We wish to see more upgrading, speeding up, getting around, and more contemporary refinements than old school approaches driven by higher standards that we desire”, she added.
Among the topics presented and discussed by the invited nutrition experts were the following: Reflection on the visibility and competency of nutrition professional: where are we now? by Ms. Virgith Buena, Chairperson of the PRC Board of Examiners for Nutrition and Dietetics; Be seen, Be heard: It’s more fun working with media by Asst. Prof. Danilo Arao; The art and science of networking and resource generation by Ms. Pinky Medina, Exec. Director of Venture for Fund Raising; Developing an eye for aesthetic: applications in nutrition work by Mr. Robert Alejandro, Owner of the RAW and Robert Alejandro Art and Design; Event organizing solutions for nutrition initiatives by Mr. Adolf Aran, President of Food and Hospitality Events Specialist, Inc.; Storytelling nutrition by Mr. Randolf Yanza, Story Teller and Consultant of the National Book Development Board; and many more.
The 2014 annual convention will be held somewhere in Visayas region.
