TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN- With the aim of National Nutrition Council (NNC) R02 to promote healthy living, NNC conducted Nutri-kalesa painting contest prior to the celebration of Nutrition Month last June 30 as a way for students to express their insights about nutrition.
The value of kalesa or a horse drawn-rig as an IEC medium of promoting good health in the city is duly recognized through the said activity. Too, the event also provided an avenue for students to showcase their artistic skills while taking their part in encouraging the people to live a healthy life.
Nutri-kalesa painting was participated by 11 kalesas and different students coming from different schools. 4 kalesas were assigned to students of Linao National High School, 6 for Cagayan National High School students and 1 kalesa assigned to Tuguegarao Science High School students.
The theme of the painting contest was based on how the students visualize the 10 Kumainments launched by NNC. Students started to do their tasks on June 29 at PDRMO Cagan Office SIADP.
Every stroke created by the students in their paintings is an emblem of their dedication and determination in helping the agency promote healthy living through this kind of activity. In return, all the outputs of the students were adjudged by the jury invited by NNC. The honorable jury composed of Ms. Teresa Campos of DWPE Radyo ng Bayan and Mr. Oliver Baccay, Information Officer of Philippine Information Agency (PIA). These judges had a hard time in deciding which art won the first place.
